Have you ever seen a costume in a show, and wondered – have I ever seen it before? It sounds very familiar. Was that because it’s a traditional look for that period, or is it because the costume is being reused? We ‘re not sure because some of those look really similar if not identical. And it turns out we’re not the only ones thinking that. Obviously, reuse or change costumes are very popular for making them suit other performers. Let’s look at some of the costumes which have been reused for the film.
1. Friends, 1994 – Edgar Allan Poe’s Murder Mystery Dinner Party, 2016
Who’d think from Friends’ first season that Rachel’s wedding dress will make it into 2016? Yet it’s an similar outfit as you can see in Edgar Allan Poe ‘s Murder Mystery Dinner Club. I say we ‘re pretty sure it’s exactly the same outfit.
2. Pride & Prejudice, 2005 — Sense and Sensibility, 2008
Sure, we understand that these are two stories based on the works of Jane Austen, and they’re set in the same period of time, but they come on that they’re not the same plot. Then why did they wear the very same dress? We don’t really remember, but in Sense and Sensibility it seems like she frequently wore a silk scarf across her shoulders, can we just guess that it helped make the dress look different?
3. Manolete, 2008 — Brooklyn, 2015
These two movies couldn’t be more different, but it’s odd the ladies are wearing almost. The same skirt. This is styled slightly in each of them and this makes this blend better into the personality of the character, but it is still the same outfit. Who would you agree wear it better?
4. Gossip Girl, 2010 — The Carrie Diaries, 2013
The biggest difference between these two green coats seems to be that in The Carrie Diaries it is unbuttoned and they’ve put a C brooch on the lapel as a funky decoration. We like the way the Gossip Girl Way designs this more.
5. Dangerous Liaisons, 1988 — Hocus Pocus, 1993
Isn’t it strange how the package affects your view of dress? It looks like a legit outfit that a princess or something would wear in Dangerous Liaisons, while at Hocus Pocus it looks like a fun costume to have a band.
6. Titanic, 1997 — Tuck Everlasting, 2002
The lighting makes the greatest difference, but in both Titanic and Tuck Eternal the suit’s collar is the exact same design. And it’s the same trick we’ve seen before, Kate Winslet wears it unbuttoned and Alexis Bledel’s absolutely kicked it down. That’s kind of what it takes to make things feel different enough to change its appearance. Yet this is a very particular tag, and we may be seeing it from a mile away.
7. My Cousin Rachel, 2017 — Victoria, 2017
This black dress seems to be popular in film, we ‘re pretty sure that these two are not the only occasions as seen in a movie, but these are the ones we’ve been aware of. Or if you see it in some other footage let us know.
8. The Duchess, 2008 — The Scandalous Lady W, 2015
This unique dress is way too special, intricate and has two loads of little specifics to make it a coincidence or to assume that it was made separately for two different films. The cut of it, the style, even the nature of the fringe is in both, so we’re pretty sure Keira Knightly just got to wear it first and it was later reused for The Scandalous Lady W.
